Final standings are attached, but first a few words from your exhausted and fearless TO. There are a lot of additional people I failed to thank prior to giving out awards, to make some amends let me do that now. First off: Steve McNamara, Erik Lindley, Eric Lindbeck, and Alan Hovis--I think we make a hell of a team. Ray Ramey for building tables and stepping up when a family emergency called Steve away. Scott Tolbert for making the 2.5hr drive from Winston-Salem to play ringer on Saturday. On paint scores: In the end, your total paint score is the judge's score plus any player's choice votes you receive. Richard Attachments:

Thanks guys.
That Painting spread is way, way too high. It's not much of a tournament if I start off more than 4 games down to somebody, unless my army looks like total crap.

The painting spread is entirely my fault, I saw the train coming but couldn't get the car in gear in time to get off the track. I'd offer a defense, but (to me) that would only seem like whining, so I'll simply offer my apologies.

Hi guys, as the "painting judge", I feel like I should weigh in on this. I agree, there was too much of a spread in the totals and too many points counting into your total score, primarily because players choice/bonus points were added into the paint score and to the final totals.
I think the checklist we used was fair for distinguishing between armies for the painting award, but what was added to them and how those numbers are incorporated into the total should be changed. This is definately something that will be discussed for change next year.
One thing I am happy about is that the painting score problem would not of changed the outcome of the overall winner or the winner of the painting award and it did not affect match-ups,etc. Everyone who received awards deserved them. Grats to all of you.
I hope all of you agree that the Brawler Bash has impoved each year and will improve even more for next year.

Fair enough guys, and I agree.
BTW, I gave Alex Forsythe a Fav Opponent vote, so something's up there. No big deal, just makes me look bad since I told him that but the scoresheet says he didn't get any.

Warning long post ahead...
No apology is required Richard, you did a great job, and I am sure that every year things will get smoother and smoother. One thing I have at other tournaments is that the top three armies in painting get only 1, 3 or 5 points respectively and that is added to the score. That puts a cap on the amount of points and avoid the unnatural boost that I got.
Comp is probably the hardest system to deal with. No comp system is perfect and there is always someone that doesn't want to play that way and brings the nastiest list possible. At one tournament I attended, there was a player vote for the top cheesiest armies (mine was second cheesiest btw) and those players were given -5, -3 and -1 points respectively. It caused a buddy of mine to lose overall and we laugh about it to this day. I have used the system as well, see below.
Something I really enjoyed about this tournament was the cards that one could play. I rarely looked at the objectives during play but it certainly changes the game play. My feedback on those is that several of the cards referred to fleeing units which doesn't apply to several armies these days (TK, VC, DoC).
I ran a tournament once where there were game specific objectives and each army had their army specific objectives (and they are hard to get for the higher tiered armies and easier to get for the lower tiered armies). Here is that tournament pack...feel free to edit and add as an attachment.
Cheers,
spanky (I lost my right to capitalize my name in a game of warhammer)
Cangames 2009 CWC Warhammer Scenario Pack
By Andrew Weber Acknowledgement: Special thanks to Nate Stevens from the Warmasters Challenge (http://www.warmasterschallenge.com/) for use of the scenarios and concepts. Used with permission.
Last Updated: May 08/2009.
Common rules for all scenarios:
Deployment: Roll off. The winning side claims their table edge by deploying first. Units may be deployed up to 12” from their table edge. Follow the normal procedure for deployment, including the use of scouts.
First Turn: Roll off following the normal procedure for deployment.
Terrain: Unless otherwise specified, the terrain should be left as is on the table, ensuring that no piece of terrain is within 12” of the center of the table. Terrain may move during the day, due to army placement, etc, so please set it back up in some agreeable fashion before your game starts, once again ensuring that no piece of terrain is within 12” of the centre of the table.
All hills, buildings and forests are infinitely high when considering blocking line of sight.
Sportsmanship Guidelines 0 – Please kill me. 1 - Rather not play this person again. 2 – Honestly why did I come here 3 – Good game, love to play them again. 4 – This person will foster my children if I suddenly pass away. 5 – I have considered this person my sword brother and we are making a blood oath.
Presentation Guidelines 0 – Plastic and Pewter 1 – Primered and a few models painted 2 – Nicely painted, but not themed. Units not tied together in anyway. 3 – Really nice job, lovely models, interesting theme. 4 – Super painting, even rank and file have attention to details, nice display and obviously themed. 5 – Should enter Golden Demon, beautiful paint job, nice display, cool theme.
Composition Guidelines 0 – Not enjoyable army, Min/Maxed, zero fun to play. 1 – Ok to play against, but lots of nasty combos. Point and shoot army. 2 – Good solid army. Tough to beat but balanced for the most part. 3 - Very balanced and in keeping with the army theme. 4 – This person can win with tactics; army is very balanced, nothing over the top. 5 – This is what army x is all about, solid choices, nothing min/maxed, perfect example of what perfect comp is all about.

Scenario 1
Seize Control
Place Objective Markers: Before rolling for deployment, each team rolls off. Starting with the team that won, teams alternate placing a total of three objective markers at least 18” from the long board edge, and at least 12” from each other and the short table edge. Objective markers cannot be placed in impassable terrain or in buildings. Use the three objective markers that have been supplied.
Scenario Objectives:
Primary Objective: Control more objective markers than your opponent. The objective markers are fixed in place and units may move over a marker (however, units are not destroyed if they flee through one), but cannot end their movement on a marker. A unit can only claim one objective. The team with the highest number of scoring units within 4” of an objective marker controls the marker. If there are the same number of scoring units within 4”, then the objective markers is considered drawn. The team that controls more markers wins. If each side controls the same number of markers, the primary objective is a draw.
Scoring units must be unit strength 5 or greater. Characters, summoned units and flying units cannot hold or deny an objective.
Secondary Objective: Crush the enemy. Win by 500 Victory Points.
Scoring:
